This was one very special group! 🧡🐾 PANTHER PRIDE! Middle Township Panthers fell to Oakcrest 7-6 on Tuesday, in the first round of the South Jersey Group 2 Playoffs, on the final play of the game. The game was tied at six with Oakcrest batting in the bottom of the eleventh when the Falcons pitcher tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Middle started off the game strong with the lead at 3-0 going into the bottom of the 6th. Moving into bottom of 7th, Middle found themselves tied with the home team 3-3. Top of the 10th, the Panthers turned out 3 runs to lead 6-3. Going into the 11th the teams were tied again 6-6. What a game!! Despite the loss, Middle Township Panthers Varsity did collect seven hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Oakcrest had nine hits on the way to victory and Middle committed 7 errors. Charlotte Selover toed the rubber for Middle. The senior pitcher surrendered five runs on nine hits over ten innings, striking out eight and walking one. She finished the season with 114 strike outs. A Message from the Coaches- We are so proud of the #MTHSsoftball team. Through all of the adversities this team has had to go through; from losing a season last year, living through a pandemic, injuries, volleyball season moved, and only having a 2 month season- this team has improved so much! It is aways hard to end a season, especially after playing a game like today, but the coaching staff wants all the players to know how much they enjoyed this season and how proud we are of this team! Panther Proud 🧡🐾 🥎This weeks ATHLETE OF THE WEEK goes to senior left fielder Maverick Adams. Adams was out of the line up at the beginning of the season with a freak elbow injury during a preseason practice. Since then, Mav has worked back to the starting line up and has controlled left field tremendously! In the past 3 games Mav is 50% at the plate, going 5 for 10 and racking up 4 RBIs in the process. Three of those RBIs came in the game against Atlantic City on May 20th, where Mav crushed the ball to centerfield for a double. In the field Adams has had 6 total chances with 5 put outs and only one error, earning a .900 fielding percentage this week and a .923 average on the season. Congratulations Mav! We are so proud of you! 🎉 The team racked up 16 hits on the day. Adams, Nichols, Hughes, Kern, Jamison, D’Alonzo, and Yaeckel each racked up multiple hits. Nichols and Adams each collected three hits to lead Middle Township Panthers Varsity. Game ball went to Sayde who racked up 2 RBIs in the win. Go Sayde!!! Charlotte Selover was in the circle for the visiting team. Selover allowed two hits and one run over five innings, striking out seven and walking one. Selover found herself 1 strike out away from the 100 strikeout milestone going into the game. She hit this mark in the third out of the 1st inning and racked up 6 more to move her to 106 on the season. Congratulations Charlotte!! 🎉 The Panthers are back in action on Tuesday for the first round of the South Jersey Group 2 playoffs against Oakcrest. Game is away and first pitch is at 4pm! Go Middle!
🧡🐾 Middle snatched the lead late in the game in a 4-2 victory over Cumberland on Monday. The game was tied at two with the Panthers Varsity batting in the top of the sixth when Charlotte singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

On Wednesday afternoon, Morgan and teammate Sayde Nichols both graduated from ACCC with their associates degree. Both players came to the field after drive through graduation with 5 minutes to warm up for the game. Kern was outstanding at 1st base, keeping runners from advancing and again keeping Middle free of errors. Congrats Grads! 🎓🧡
But it doesn’t stop there! Kern has enlisted in the Army National Guard and will be leaving July 6th for basic training at Ft Jackson SC, and at AIT at Ft. Lenordwood Missouri after. This past Sunday Morgan went to training at Sea Girt drill base for an entire day. Exhausted, the next day, she came to the field early for extra reps before a big game against a tough Mainland team. Now that’s dedication! Congratulations on all of your accomplishments Morgan. We are so proud of you and look forward to following your future successes! 🥎🐾🧡 Panthers Varsity had no trouble on offense today, winning big over Atlantic City 8-2.
